I am a survivor of Near Haploid Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and am running the 100 miles myself for two reasons. The first is in the memory of fellow patients I knew and who were unable to beat their cancer while I was being treated at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The second reason is to show that kids, and adults too, can recover from cancer to lead a completely unimpaired life. While I have very few lasting issues from my treatment, many people do not recover as well as I have. I want to see a day when the successful recovery like I have had is common. I am 19 years old and have been off treatment since 2007. I am currently a student and an Air Force ROTC cadet at Louisiana State University.
