I’m helping Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation raise funds to find a cure for all childhood cancers – you can, too! It is crucial that we find not only better treatments, but a cure for childhood cancer. Ben and I never thought we would be the parents of a child with cancer. It has been a grueling battle--one that will wind down in September. It will not end, though. Katelyn will continue to have blood work done regularly and will need to be scanned regularly to assure that the cancer has not returned somewhere else. On top of that, we have to deal with the horrible side effects of chemotherapy. These include possible hearing loss, malformation of her adult teeth, and cardiac issues. So even though we will be done with chemotherapy, the nightmare of it all will never leave us. I tell you this because we need to find a cure. It's not fair that these are the issues Katelyn will face for the remainder of her life.
