I want to thank everyone for your support over the past 8 months!

Alex's Lemonade Stand and Team Lemon: Thank you for the opportunity to run with you! I am so glad that you gave me a chance to join your team 6 months ago.

To my family, friends and co-workers: Thank you for contributing to my campaign to raise over $1700 to the Lemonade Stand! This is a great charity and I look forward to teaming with them going forward! Also, thank you for the supportive words! They do make a difference!

The final stats: I started getting fit again this past April counting steps with my Fitbit. I was able to do extended runs in August. I've lost over 35 pounds and finished my first 10k race today at a pace below 11 minutes per mile! Out of more than 9,000 runners I finished in the top 21%.

Now on to bigger challenges!

I'm heading into 2015 with a lot of optimism! Only two more weeks left until the race. I have really been feeling a lot better about running after training for the past 8 months! I crawled off the couch, started walking, and now I'm lining up more races! I'm setting a goal of 65 minutes for the 10k, but may be a little more realistic for 70-75.

I'm doing lots to prepare for the race, but I'm also learning more about the great work being done by Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation! Take a look around the site and if you feel so moved, please donate.

Thanks for reading!

Everywhere I look, I see more organizations willing to help Alex's Lemonade Stand. Red Robin, Auntie Anne's and many others. We are in the middle of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and I am even more motivated to help get the word out.

On a personal note, I am one month away from my first road race in a very long time. It's just two miles and I want to be able to say that I will run/jog it all. I am working out 10 times a week or so. I am down almost 25 pounds since April. I hope to hit 30 by the end of next month.

Please take a moment and click on the donate button on the right. Every little bit helps. I have set a series of lofty goals for myself and I want to be able to tell my friends at the Lemonade Stand that I helped to raise $2000 with the help of my friends.

I'm getting pretty serious now. Since April, I started walking a few extra steps to get in some extra exercise using a Fitbit. In June, I got a heart rate monitor and really started to work out by burning up to 1000 calories in a single workout. Now I'm starting to add to my power walks in the evening. I wake up and get in some T25 workout videos for 25 minutes of total body workouts. As I see the fundraising goal rise, I become even more motivated to perform well for Alex's Lemonade Stand and for you, my sponsors.

There's a good start to the donations! Thank you all who have helped so far!

On a personal note, I'm down 20 pounds since April.

I gave myself a little time trial to see where I'm at now. I finished a 10k in less than 80 minutes. The pacing came down to about 13:30 per mile for the whole 6.2 miles!

In 6 months, I'll be running my first 10k. Sure I've run 5k's and 5 milers, but I've never raced further than that. In the past 3 months, I've already dropped 15 lbs and am setting my sights on finishing that 10k.
