Hello team! We are so excited to have you join us this year in logging miles toward Jay Scott's goal of 1 million miles! Do you know why we are logging miles?
Alex, at the age of 4, wanted to raise $1M with her lemonade stand for a cure for all kids with cancer. It has been 10 years since she passed away at the age of 8, and her dad, Jay, said he would go 1M miles to give her the cure for all kids with cancer. As his tribute to his daughter's successful legacy, he wants us to join together to reach 1M miles together, showing the world that we know the need for childhood cancer awareness and funding is real.
This event will show that we are breaking ground on truly finding a cure for the number 1 disease killer of children in the US. We are so excited you are joining us this month to reach this goal!
What do you have to do? LOG THOSE MILES!!! For the entire month, we want you to log in (at least weekly), and post your miles-whether walked, ran, or ridden. If you use the MAPmyFitness app, it will link automatically.
Each week, thanks to amazing community partners, we will host drawings for free prizes like t-shirts, area food coupons, and even gym memberships! WHOOHOO--who doesn't love free stuff?! (We will ship items to our out of town participants-don't worry!)
I will post the picture of our team t-shirt tonight or tomorrow! Orders will need to be placed by next Wednesday, September 3, so we can get them in and on your backs!Remember shirts will be $20. Proceeds will be split evenly with Hugs of Hope and Alex's Lemonade stand!
Our team members will also receive a cool gold awareness ribbon lapel pin to wear all month long when you aren't logging miles so you can share with everyone what you know about this disease!
We want you to post pics of you, your friends, and others logging their miles! We love selfies, and we are excited to have you post yours! Are you logging for a special child or just an amazing team? SHOW US!! We will have special prizes for those selfies too!
We have Gold Bows that you buy for your mailbox, office, or whereever too! If you would like, we would love help getting our bows around town, so everyone can show their support. Bows are $10, and we will donate a portion to Alex's Lemonade Stand as well!
Our team goal is $1000, 1000 miles, and hopefully 100 members! Get your friends to join us! We want those miles. Remember, monetary donations are not required but would be helpful in the fight! Please share on your personal social media sites too!
