Since its humble beginnings in a small house on Castellar Street, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has grown to become one of the nation’s best and most respected academic and research hospitals and an international leader in treating some of the most complex forms of pediatric injury and disease.
Children's Hospital Los Angeles has been named the best children’s hospital on the West Coast and among the top five in the nation for clinical excellence with its selection to the prestigious U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll. Children’s Hospital is home to The Saban Research Institute, one of the largest and most productive pediatric research facilities in the United States. Children’s Hospital is also one of America's premier teaching hospitals through its affiliation since 1932 with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.
Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases (CCCBD) at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has been leading the fight against cancer and blood diseases through innovative clinical and research programs, academic excellence and global leadership. It is the largest pediatric hematology/oncology program of its kind in the western United States. Thirty-one pediatric hematologist/oncologists who are leaders in their field and treatments set the standard of care. As a result, families come to us from all over Southern California, the U.S. and the world.
The Center sees more than 1,100 newly diagnosed patients each year. Together, the day hospital, clinic and urgent care experience some 25,000 outpatient visits annually. The CCCBD provides care through three divisions: Hematology-Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, and Basic and Translational Research.
At Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, we believe that there is no better cause than a child’s well-being and that children’s access to excellent healthcare is our responsibility as a community, not a privilege. The hospital is passionate in these beliefs and its dedication to pediatric healthcare. Children’s Hospital has encapsulated this commitment to children and families through its new mission: We create hope and build healthier futures.
