When
September 1, 2014 to September 30, 2014
As you may know, September is the start of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. It is estimated that worldwide a child is diagnosed with cancer every 3 minutes. On December 24, 2010, my nephew Michael was 4 when he was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma. A tumor the size of a large mango was found on his right adrenal gland and over 40 cancerous legions peppered his lungs. Neuroblastoma is a cancer of the sympathetic nervous system, almost exclusively occurs in children and is tremendously difficult to cure. Michael was given a 25% chance of surviving 5 years. He bravely fought for 26 months. During that time he displayed exceptional courage and bravery in the harshest of circumstances. He was a true warrior throughout and never gave up hope. He touched many people’s lives during his short stay here on earth.
Alex’s Million Mile is a monthlong event organized by Alex's Lemonade Stand during September. The goal is to collectively run, walk and/or ride one million miles to raise funds for childhood cancer research and increase awareness of the need to support childhood cancer research. You can show your support by sending a donation and/or joining my team and logging your own miles to help reach my goal of 100+ miles. Thank you very much! -Teresa ------"but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint."
