Bentley is a precocious little man, that just began exploring the world on his hands and knees. Then suddenly his life was forever changed. Our smiling, sparkly eyed Bentley had swelling in his face, which looked like an infected sinus. He had a bloody nose and was suddenly admitted to Akron Children's Hospital. Two days later a biopsy was done, and he as diagnosed with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue cancer.
One week later, he had surgery, to remove the mass in his face. The following week, chemo was started. He will be traveling to Akron, weekly for chemo treatments for the next year. After 12 weeks of chemo, Bentley will have a radiation treatment in Boston, which has very special radiation equipment. The radiation treatment needs to be very precisely administered as to minimize damage to cognitive areas.
Alex's Lemonade Foundation is important to Bentley and his family because it not only provides funding for childhood cancer research, but they give assistance to cancer families such as travel expenses while receiving treatment.
