Susana was a normal 3 year old girl when cancer got to our life. She had just turned 3 and was diagnosed with Pre B ALL, the first time that you hear that your child has an illness that can take her away from you your world completely changes. The first year and a half she was doing fairly good, being admitted a few times into the hospital for nothing major and handling chemo pretty well, even though our lives had chnged since january the year before it was not so scary or bad always trying to get the better side of our situation, but everything changed on june 2014 when we learned that our little Su had relapsed while on treatment and her best hope for life was a bone marrow transplant. That´s when the situation got really really scary, one thing was knowing that she had a cancer considered "the good cancer" and another was knowing that she was one of the few kids that relapsed while on treatment and our next step was as complicated and life threatening as a bone marrow transplant With the help of her doctor Lisa Hartman and all the staff at El Paso Children´s Hospital Susana was brought into remission again. The great thing was that Susan´s only sibling was a perfect match, her little sister Ivana, and that was going to make thing easier for our daughters. Susana´s transplant was done on September 19th of 2014 and now she is almost 9 months post transplant and getting ready to go to school, something that has her very excited!!!! After all this time we´ve met a lot of families like us, some of them fought and won, some are still fighting and some of them, sadly a lot of them, have a gorugeous angel in heaven looking after them, and for all of them is why we are holding our lemonade stand to honor and respect all the kids and families that have to live this path of childhood cancer!!!! And now her doctor, Lisa, her hospital, El Paso Children´s Hospital and us have come together to help raise awareness and money for research thanks to the help of Alex´s Lemonade Stand!!!!
