First of all, I want to thank all of you who joined us last year in raising $894 to fight pediatric cancer through our lemonade stand at the 2014 Summer Sundown Concert Series at Devonshire Park.  This year’s concert series starts Sunday July 12 at 7pm and will bring us a weekly opportunity to operate a lemonade stand for a cause that is very dear to us, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, through Sunday August 9.

This year we are going to get a little more ambitious.  We plan to raise at least $2000 which is the equivalent to a week of cancer research.  Many of you know a family or are part of a family that has experienced the struggles and traumas that pediatric cancer wields.  In fact, 720 new children are affected by this each day and less than 5% of the federal government’s total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers each year.  But if you want to read an amazing story about a little girl afflicted with this disease and making an enormous and long lasting impact on the world with her beautiful but shortened life, I encourage you to Google “Alex Scott.”

So we’re asking for your help.  I can think of a million ways small and large that you can do to help us try to slay this beast.  You can donate online.  You can share this post on social media and compel others to help.  You can join us on any or all of these Sundays and bring baked goods or more lemonade.  You can come on out to the concerts and help us tend the stand.  You can make signs with us.  Or you can just come out, have a great time listening to great music, and sip on a cup of lemonade.  This summer has been a little wet for us and we are trying to more than double our outcome from last year.  So we would love to make you part of our team.
