We are participating in this year’s Alex’s Million Mile campaign to raise awareness and money to help move us closer to finding a cure for all children with cancer. During the month of September we aim to cycle/run/walk (but mainly cycle!) at least 1000 miles to help ALSF reach their goal of over 1 million miles logged collectively across America.
I am an ALSF researcher at the UCSF Cancer Center devoted to studying the causes of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), with a focus on children with Down’s syndrome, who have a much higher risk of developing ALL as well as a poorer prognosis. Identification of genetic and epigenetic risk factors will lead to earlier risk stratification and potentially improved treatment of this disease, as well as shedding light on the causes of ALL in all children.
