Last year, Hannah's Bubbe told me about Alex's Lemonade Days, but we were not able to register in enough time to host a stand. This year we're very proud to be a part of this important event in a small way. Hannah and I will be hosting our stand in front of her grandparent's cupcake store in Ashland, Virginia. Some of you know Hannah was disgnosed with Wilm's Tumor when she was 11 months old. Her diagnosis thankfully was positive -- stage 1/favorable histology. Just weeks before her first birthday, she underwent surgery to have one of her kidneys removed and started a 16 week chemotheraphy program. This past April Hannah celebrated her 9th birthday. She has done so wonderful and her doctors have given her a clean bill of health. I am so thankful everyday that she has gotten through this. Being in the hospital during her chemo treatments made me so sad to see the other children there, some with much more progressive forms of cancer at such young ages. What amazed me most was how upbeat and positive most of these children were. Reading Alex's story touched a special place in my heart, remembering several of them that could have been Alex.
