When
On August 23, 2014 Jacob went to the pediatrician for his persistent complaint of rib pain. Our lives are forever changed by a "minor" visit to the pediatrician. An x-ray revealed some very bad news and we went straight from the pediatrician to Children's Mercy ER to the ICU in a matter of hours. Jacob was subsequently diagnosed with T-cell Nonhodgkins Lymphoblastic Lymphoma (something a 5th grader can't prounce or spell but will have a lasting impact on his life). Since that dark day our lives have been forever changed. Jacob is now 18 months into his 3 year treatment and is doing very well. As a family we have learned to reset our priorities and embrace new perspectives on life.
To honor Jacob and all other kids fighting cancer, Jacob's baseball team has decided to participate in the Alex Gordon Classic baseball tournament. Proceeds from this tournament benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand. The money you donate will pay for research to find better treatments and cures for childhood cancer. Last year, Jacob's baseball team participated in this tournament in Jacob's honor and this year Jacob will himself be playing in it with his teammates.
Patients like Jacob need cures for cancer and less toxic treatments. Research takes money. Please support the NBA Sprinkle 12U baseball team in helping to find cures for pediatric cancer. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, the hearts of our baseball family, the hearts of the amazing boys that Jacob plays ball with, and from the many other families battling pediatric cancer.
