The T cell Trainers are participating again this year in the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s: Alex’s Million Mile Run Walk & Bike event. The funds raised through this event will support the work of the Bleakley laboratory developing new immunotherapy approaches to treat children and young adults with poor prognosis leukemia. Our lab is part of an alliance of research teams at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle who are harnessing the power of the immune system to improve and find less toxic treatments for some of the most difficult cancers. Our major focus is developing new forms of immunotherapy for children and young adults with acute leukemias including Acute Myeloid Leukemia and Acute Lymphoid Leukemia. We are currently creating and evaluating immunotherapy that can prevent or treat relapse of leukemia after blood or marrow transplantation. Success in this endeavor has the potential to save many young lives.
Private support, like the support provided through Alex’s Lemonade Stand, helps to accelerate our research and bring it to patients sooner. Every dollar we raise will be matched dollar for dollar up to $25,000 with an Alex’s Lemonade Stand matching gift. A total of $50,000 would be directed to our work and will help us pay for travel/ accommodation expenses for families of patients who are enrolling in our trial.
Please consider joining our team or making a donation to a team member and helping us to find better therapies for these families.
