I'm participating in Alex's Million Mile to help move us closer to finding a cure for all children with cancer!  Please join the KPMG Philadelphia Global Mobility Services (GMS) team on Thursday, August 18, 2016 for a lemonade social benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF). We are using this lemonade social as a kick off to our upcoming participation in Alex’s Million Mile – Run.Walk.Ride. 2016, which will take place during the month of September. As you may know, ALSF is a nonprofit charitable organization that raises money and awareness for childhood cancer research. Founded by Alexandra “Alex” Scott, her efforts to raise over $1 million to find a cure for childhood cancer, which eventually took her life, gained national attention. Every day, parents of children battling cancer travel thousands of miles for treatments. That’s why each September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re going a million miles to raise awareness and fund-raise for cures. Alex’s Million Mile is a worldwide, virtual event where participants collectively run, walk, or cycle so anyone can join and there are no minimum mileage or fund-raising requirements. Our goal is to collectively run, walk, and/or ride one million miles and beyond during a single month and fund-raise to find cures. Every mile and dollar helps!

Last year, KPMG Philadelphia’s team started a team called “KPMG MILES4SMILES.” With 20 team members joining, we were recognized by ALSF as one of the 2015 top teams with nearly $8,000 raised for this amazing cause and 2,066 miles logged collectively! With the support of the entire Philadelphia office, we are confident that we can far surpass last year’s totals!
