When
The Stegmaier Laboratory focuses on the discovery of new cancer targets and small-molecule therapeutic leads, by intersecting genomic, chemical biology, and proteomic approaches. By studying several cancers that affect pediatric patients, such as neuroblastoma, Ewing sarcoma and leukemia, our goal is to find new ways to treat patients. The most ambitious goal of our work is the translation of confirmed drugs or drug combinations to clinical trial. Clinical trials for patients with AML and Ewing sarcoma have resulted from our research. Trials testing SYK inhibitors in patients with AML are opening and a trial testing BET bromodomain inhibitors in patients with MYCN-amplified neuroblastoma is in development.
