Q: What is Alex’s Million Mile – Run.Walk.Ride.?
A: Alex’s Million Mile is a month-long event during September (Childhood Cancer Awareness Month). The goal is to collectively run, walk and/or ride one million miles to raise funds and increase awareness of the need to support childhood cancer research.
Q: Where will Alex’s Million Mile take place?
A: This is a worldwide event! You can run, walk or ride wherever your feet, bike or wheelchair take(s) you.
Q: Is this a marathon, 5K or race of some kind? I'm not a runner!
A: No, no and no! While you are welcome to challenge yourself physically this is not an athletic event! Everyone can participate at their own comfort and ability level. One person might log 1 mile with the aid of a walker and another might log 1000 miles with a bike. So far, most on this team have commited to walking 20 - 100 miles each.
Q: When does Alex’s Million Mile start and end?
A: Registration is open NOW! (Please register as soon as possible!) You will be able to log your miles from September 1 through September 30, 2016. You don't need to log miles every day, just whenever you can throughout the month.
Q: Why are we doing this?
A: As Pokemon GO players, we are there racking up miles anyway, so why not join in? But really, to raise the profile of childhood cancer and raise money to find better treatments and cures for all kids with cancer.
Q: Does it cost anything to sign up?
A: There is no fee to sign up and no minimum fundraising requirement.
Q: Who can sign up?
A: Anyone!
