Every year, an estimated 250,000 new cases of cancer affect children under the age of 20 worldwide. That's about 700 new kids affected every day. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded. Less than 4% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers each year.

Our fundraiser honors one such fighter, Mira, who is fighting Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). While children her age are at school, learning with their friends, Mira spends her days in hospitals and clinics. The intense chemoetherapy used to treat AML will leave her with many side effects that she will deal with for the rest of her life. Our children deserve better. A proper childhood, a better life, more than 4% of funding for research.
