I am a mom to my 10 year old daughter, Grace. In 2006, just under 2 yrs old, Grace was diagnosed with a cystic brain lesion. She had emergency surgery just after her 2nd birthday. It was one of the most difficult times in my life, seeing my child go through brain surgery. We are so fortunate and thankful to God that she does not have cancer from this condition. We cherish everyday and are so incredibly lucky to have her with us. In 2006, one of my students gave me a 4-leaf clover bracelet and told me that luck will always be on our side. Little did we know that just a few years later, Justin would be diagnosed with ALL. He fought so hard and through it all he reminded us how precious life can be and how lucky we are to have it. Well, I am taking that luck and using it to help others that need it. I have always enjoyed running and biking and I am using my love of them to help raise money for Alex's Lemonade Stand in hopes of giving luck to many children who are fighting this terrible disease called cancer. At the beginning of 2017, we were given the awful news that our 4 and a half year old Great Dane, Tank, has osteosarcoma. It is such a sad feeling knowing that we cannot do anything to help him stay here with us and one day soon he will be at home with the Lord. My hope is that Justin will be there to greet him with open arms and never feel pain again, only love. Everyone deserves a healthy, happy life.
