Two very good friends of mine, Steve and Sonja Greiner, lost their daughter to childhood cancer (on my birthday - a bittersweet reminder each year) and Steve is a retired marine and running the Marine Corps Marathon in honor of their daughter, Ali, just seemed liken the perfect thing for me to do!
Ali was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called Medulloblastoma just a few days before her 2nd birthday. She had surgery to remove the tumor, followed by oral chemotherapy and radiation. Due to her young age and the quick growth of her cells, ridding her body of the cancer was unsuccessful, and she lost her battle just 6 weeks shy of her 3rd birthday. Although so young, Alison was as brave as any adult could be. She fought and smiled and loved up until she left this earth. Shakespeare said it best with his words, "Yet she be but little, she is fierce."
Please help me fight this awful disease and save more parents from having to endure the unthinkable of saying goodbye to their child at such a young age. The cure is out there.......let's get there!!
