I have a family member that is struggling through beating cancer #2. It breaks my heart to read the stories posted about their battle and the battle of families that they have met.

My cousin's son, Colin Delaney, has been fighting his battle with cancer and secondary issues for over 2 years now. Watching their journey has been a roller coaster of emotions. The ups, downs and loops of emotions that I have felt are nothing compared to what they are feeling. Colin's second family is the care team at CHOP. They have grown close with the other patients (which unfortunately do not all have happy endings). I used to support Relay for Life religiously, and while I do believe they still do good work, it's through Colin's battle and Melissa's stories that I realized the gap in childhood cancer research vs adult cancer research. There are still so many unknowns, and Colin's journey shows how much medicine is an art and not an exact science.
