Lucy's Story

On September 3, 2014 sweet Lucy was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Acute Myeloid Leukemia, at 14 months old. Her loving parents, Emily & Pete, moved their small family two hours away to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in search of the best care for their very 'rare' Lucy. While at CHOP she bravely underwent several rounds of  harsh chemotherapy, 3 bone marrow transplants, hundreds of transfusions, with the goal of living a healthy and cured life.

Lucy overcame so much in her 9 months after diagnosis and faced everyday with a smile never losing her sweet toddler disposition. She tragically passed away on May 13, 2015, at 22 months old, from complications of these life saving therapies.

Lucy & her parents lived among some of the bravest children, families, and medical/hospital staff and saw things that no one should ever see. We feel passionately that more treatment options, medications, and therapies need to be discovered to not only cure our children but allow them to live a full healthy life, and not one debilitated from chemotherapies and secondary cancers that are a risk from current primary cancer fighting regimens!

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is on the forefront of supporting families affected by cancer and funding the nation’s most brilliant doctors and researchers with the goal to cure all cancers. Childhood cancer is not just one disease, it is made up of dozens of types and countless subtypes- therapy options need to reflect this!

Last year, the Love for Lucy Always Golf Classic raised over $40,000 which is over 5 Months of critical childhood cancer research!  We hope that you join us in supporting the Love for Lucy Golf Classic as we continue to fight for those that deserve it most!
