Colton was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a type of solid tumor pediatric cancer, in August 2013. His diagnosis came 2 weeks before his third birthday. The diagnosis of neuroblastoma came as a shock to his family because he never acted or seemed sick. What Amber, his mother, thought was an enlarged lymph node on his neck turned out to be a secondary tumor from the cancer. Colty endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy at Wolfsons Children's Hospital and traveled to Children's Hospital of Atlanta for MIBG therapy. Colty fought hard for eight months, but sadly he lost his fight with this big batttle. Colton earned his caped on May 1st, 2014.
Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15 in the United States. One in 285 children in the United States will be diagnosed with cancer by the time they are 20 years old. Every year, an estimated 91,230 children lose their fight with cancer. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded. Less than 5% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers each year. Since 1982, only 3 drugs have been approved in the first instance for use in children.
Kids with cancer don't have time to wait. Your donation will go to research seeking lifesaving treatment. The money you give has the potential to make a huge difference for these kids and their families. Please give!
