Dr. Victor Fedorov, a promising young doctor and researcher, was taken from us in March of 2017, in an avalanche in Banff National Park. 

Words cannot describe the loss that Victor's death is to his family, his friends, his patients, and to the sciences.  Victor was born in Russia and moved to Richmond, VA with his family during elementary school.  He attended the University of Richmond, where he quadruple (!!!) majored in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology.  He attended medical school at Weill Cornell Medical College in NYC where he solidified his passion for research in cancer biology and genomics, immunology, and personalized medicine. He graduated from Cornell with an MD-PhD degree, a double doctorate in medicine and research.

Victor was an Internal Medicine resident at Massachusetts General Hospital and was helping develop an "N-of-1" fellowship that he would be pioneering. This fellowship is aimed at advancing the field of individualized medicine, so that each patient's treatment can be personalized to their unique biology and diseases.

Beyond this outstanding resume, however, Victor will be missed by those of us who had the privilege of knowing him for his irreverent sense of humor, his adventures and mischievousness, his unique perspectives on this big world we all share, his humanity, his loyalty to his friends, and his dedication to his family. 

This fundraiser was started by two of Victor's friends who were married in July and decided to fundraise in honor of Victor's life's work as a soaring young researcher, instead of having a traditional wedding registry.  Victor's family and friends joined the fundraising efforts in September, in honor of the 6 month anniversary of Victor's passing.

We are excited to support the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF).  The foundation's research interests align well with Victor's passions. Most importantly, ALSF provides research grants for young professionals, like Victor, who are early in their career and can find it difficult to fund their research endeavors. We have asked the foundation to direct the funds from our fundraiser to support the Young Investigators research grants, in Victor's memory.  The Young Investigator who is chosen as the Dr. Victor Fedorov Memorial Fund awardee will receive information about Victor's life and passion for the sciences and for research, which we know will serve as a very special source of inspiration.
