When
Five years ago our laboratory at the Lombardi Cancer Center, Georgetown School of Medicine discovered a new gene named STAG2 that is an important cause of Ewing sarcoma, an aggressive pediatric bone cancer. STAG2 also causes several adult cancers, including bladder cancer, brain cancer, and leukemia. Our work now focuses on why this gene causes cancer, and developing novel strategies to target it with new therapeutics. 100% of the funds donated to Alex's Lemonade Stand through this "Waldman's Cancer Crushers" team will be transferred directly to our laboratory and will be used to buy much needed scientific equipment that cannot be purchased using standard NIH grant funds. Remarkably, as long as we raise more than $2,500, Alex's Lemonade Stand will match our funds and donate the money back to us, up to $25,000. Therefore, our goal this year is to raise $25,000, which will result in $50,000 of funding for our laboratory. All donations are fully tax deductible. Thanks for your support!
