Hello!

We are so excited to be back for our third year of Alex's Million Mile! We are members and supporters of Dr. Jim Amatruda's lab at UT Southwestern Medical Center. We study the biology of pediatric cancers using patient genomic data and zebrafish genetic model systems. The pediatric cancers our research focuses on includes rhabdoid tumors, germ cell tumors, rhabdomyosarcoma, Ewing's sarcoma, and Wilms tumor. We use this cross-species comparative oncology approach to pinpoint the genetic drivers of disease pathology, and apply these models to identify new therapies. Our long-term goal is to improve outcomes of children with cancer. We are participating in Alex's Million Mile to raise awareness for pediatric cancer, and to fundraise to support cancer research.

We currently have an ALSF Innovation Grant, and two ALSF Young Investigator Grants focusing on rhabdomyosarcoma and Wilms tumor. We appreciate ALSF's support and want to give back!
