When
With September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Avis Budget Group wants to do even more by joining Alex’s Million Mile, a month-long event organized by ALSF during September.
Employees can choose to walk, run and/or ride during the month and log their miles. All employees are challenged to walk, run or ride as many miles as they can. As a special incentive, small prizes will be awarded along the way to the most active employees.
The first step you can take is to join Avis Budget Group’s team by registering online. Registration will remain open throughout September.
You are encouraged to invite family and friends to join or donate! You can share our page with them by using the "Invite Friends and Share This Page" link above. Share through Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In or email.
Be sure to follow @abgCare on Twitter to make sure you’re in the loop for various contests and prizes throughout the month of September. You should also continuously check the ABG’s Million Mile page to see our team’s progress!
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation grew out of efforts by Alexandra “Alex” Scott who, just before her first birthday, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. According to the Foundation’s website, the day after her fourth birthday, Alex received a stem cell transplant and informed her mother that she wanted to have a lemonade stand so she could give the money she made to doctors so they could "help other kids, like they helped me." In 2000, she held her first lemonade stand with the help of her older brother and raised $2,000 for her hospital. She ran lemonade stands each year until her death in 2004 at age eight.
We're carrying on Alex's inspiring legacy by raising money to fight childhood cancer. Will you make a donation? As Alex's life showed, our small contributions can make a big impact. Thank you!
