When I was 13 I was diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma, a rare type of cancer. When I was diagnosed my parents were told that if I hadn't gone to the hospital that I would have died within 24 hours. I wasn't expected to make it out of surgery, but I was given a miracle and made it not only through my first surgery, but also through the countless surgeries and Chemo that would be my life for the next 6 + months. Fighting cancer was the hardest thing that I have had to do in my life. There were times that I felt so sick and wondered if I could keep on fighting. With my family, friends, awesome doctors and nurses and my amazing child life specialists I made it through. I knew then and I know now that I want to spend my life fighting for a cure for this disease! Nobody should ever have to fight cancer, but especially not a child!
