Welcome to our Family Fun Walk to support pediatric cancer research through Alex's Lemonade Stand. Our son Andrew Schaber was diagnosed at age 3 with Burkitt's Lymphoma in September of 2016. Thankfully he did very well through treatment and is thriving in remission. While we are so grateful for his health no child should have to suffer through cancer treatments and many children don't have such a positive outcome. Far too many precious lives are lost each year.
Every day, there are almost 700 new cases of childhood cancer around the world. This adds up to an estimated 250,000 new cases of cancer affected children under the age of 20 each year worldwide. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded with less than 4% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers each year.
Today, the money you donate has the potential to make a huge difference in the lives of kids with cancer (and their families). Your donation will go to research into better and safer treatments and more cures. Please don’t make these kids wait longer than they have to and give today!
If you can we would love for families participating to make a donation to this page and share this page with their friends and family to help us raise money for this very important cause. But regardless of donation please come and join us as we celebrate Andrew and raise awareness for pediatric cancer research.
Please RSVP through the facebook invite or by emailing us at [email protected]. We want to make sure we have plenty of donuts!
Details for the morning:
We wanted to hold a fundraiser that Andrew could really participate in and help lead. So we will have a fun morning with donuts and coffee, a short 1.2mile walk, and time to play on the great playground.
9-9:30am Gather at the pavillion to enjoy DONUTS, coffee, and juice
~9:30am Start our family walk
Come back after the walk and play on the playground for as long as you'd like :)
A few notes: this event is meant to be a casual family friendly event, come with your families and do as much of the walk as you can, the walk can easily be cut off to shorten the length and the walking path is stroller friendly. There are also bathrooms on site. Note there are two parking lots for the park. The most convenient lot to where our activities will start and end is the lot off of Liberty Corner Road.
