KICK IT at Bayside STEM Academy
Izumi's classes are a combination of 7th and 8th grade students. Therefore, all of Izumi's classes will be involved in both the 7th and 8th grade STEM projects.
The 7th grade STEM project is centered around medical conditions. I try to encourage our students to be involved in the community. Participating in KICK-IT is a positive way to help others by doing something fun and physically active. Students will be encouraged to collect donations with classmates and have a friendly competition with other classes to raise money.
Despite medical advances, childhood cancers are the #1 disease killer of children - more than AIDS, cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy combined. More than 13,500 children in the United States are diagnosed each year and 20% do not survive. Cancer is affecting the life of a child in our community. On average one in every four elementary schools has a child with cancer. Everyday 36 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer, that is nearly two classrooms full. One out of every 330 children in the U.S. will develop cancer by the age of 30. Your generous donations will be used for research to find a cure for pediatric, adolescent, and young adult cancer.
We truly appreciate the efforts of students, parents and faculty to make a difference in the lives of children with cancer.
