One campus, Two Schools, One Mission

Notre Dame Elementary School along with Notre Dame Cathedral Latin School are located on a beautiful campus in Chardon, OH. Both School communities have faced the struggles battling cancer with our student body, teachers, staff, and extended families. Cancer is affecting the lives of children in each community. Each year, 13,500 parents are told that their child has cancer. Every day 36 children are diagnosed, nearly two classrooms full. On average one in four elementary schools has a child with cancer.In addition, more than 40,000 children undergo treatment each year. While the overall cure rate now approaches 80 percent, one in five children still loses his or her battle with cancer and 3 out of 5 children who survive cancer suffer devastating, late effects such as secondary cancers, muscular difficulties and infertility.There has been only one new drug developed specifically for pediatric cancer in nearly 20 years. Cure rates have risen through the collaborative research efforts, but more funds need to be dedicated to research to save the lives of more children.We kick it for Sam. We kick it for Domenic. We educate our students each day to live the truth, be an instrument of God' love, and to be servant leaders. Together we fight every day so that one day, no child will be diagnosed with cancer.
