We have a success story about one of our students who is a cancer survivor. Her name is Brooke Cimorell and she is a 7th grader at Lakeside Junior High School. Here is her story. In 2006 I was diagnosed with Leukemia. I was in 1st grade. Leukemia is a type of cancer of the blood. For the next 3 years, I received chemo 7 days a week. Along with this, I had to go to Rainbow's Children's Hospital 3 times a week. As a result of one chemo, I had lost all my hair for a long period of time. During this period of time I had to be careful to not be around anyone sick because my immune system was very weak, so I was often at home. For the past few years, I have been in remission. I never would have been able to get through the experience without my family and friends that were very supportive of me. I am very grateful and blessed to now be cancer free. I am now trying to help cancer foundations collect donations for future cancer research.
