This is our 3rd year hosting an “Alex’s Lemonade Stand.” I first started this because I wanted my kids to know that although they were small, they could still serve and make an impact on this world. The support and motivation we have received from family and friends has been incredible. Each year we look forward to hosting our stand and visiting with those who are able to come out for a cup of lemonade. We are always so grateful for those who are far away, yet still take time to donate and have a cyber cup of lemonade! It’s so exciting for the kids to see their goal, track it and know that they are helping make a difference.

Our family, as I’m sure yours too, has been touched by cancer too many times, aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends and unfortunately, kids. Kids aren’t given a free pass to NOT get cancer. When Adams cousin, Tiffany had her first son, Nickolas, she never would have dreamed that she would hear those dreaded words…”Your child has cancer.” Nickolas was diagnosed with leukemia (ALL) when he was 3 years old. They began the big fight and Nickolas proudly, and rightfully so, boasts that “I KICKED CANCERS BUTT.” He is still not “in the clear” but has been cancer free since 2011. We recently learned that one of Adam’s buddies from law school, Mick, just found out his 5 year old daughter Madison has osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer. She will spend the next 27 weeks undergoing treatments and surgeries. Lastly, my heart still breaks for a friend, Whitney, who’s precious boy, Brady was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of 2. He sadly passed away shortly before turning 5. Whitney and her family benefitted from the generosity of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation while Brady was undergoing treatment in Cincinnati. JB also lost a classmate, Lucas, to cancer this past year. We host our stand for these 4 families but also for those we don’t know. No family should have to go through what our family and friends has gone and are going through.
