Every day, there are almost 700 new cases of childhood cancer around the world. This adds up to an estimated 250,000 new cases of cancer affect children under the age of 20 each year worldwide. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded with less than 4% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers each year.

On a personal level I am inspired to do all I can to help fund research because I have seen the incredible dedication and work that my nephew, Anthony Faber does: "The Faber lab is involved in designing and pre-clinically testing new therapeutic approaches for subsets of genetically-defined cancers, including those in the Head and Neck region (VCU). Not only does he lead the reserach, but he is often out searching for funding sources to keep it going.
