MEET MOLLY
Molly Fiona Thompson is a 4 year old member of this Aston/Penn Delco community. She is the youngest of 3 girls, her 2 older sisters attend Pennell Elementary School.
She is a sassy, spunky, fun loving little girl who loves chips, cookies, lollipops and anything chocolate. She loves Paw Patrol and Fancy Nancy. She love to play with Barbies and Play-Doh. She loves dogs, turtles and horses. Her favorite color is purple and she just adores her two older sisters : Zoe (9) and Olivia (Liv..6).
On Friday September 28, 2018 little Molly fell and tripped like many kids do all the time. Her parents, Kelly and Chris thought nothing of it until a few hours later when she began having flu like symptoms : fever, nausea and vomiting. She was also complaining of pain in her back and left side. Molly was taken to the pediatrician’s office were they ran a bunch of tests, that all came back clear. The pediatrician was concerned about her pain so they sent her for x-rays the following day, again nothing showed. Kelly and Chris proceeded to take Molly to Dupont’s ER since her pain was not getting any better. That is when they found Molly had a large mass on her left kidney that had ruptured during her fall. She was bleeding into her abdomen and that was what was causing such severe pain.
The tumor was removed along with the affected kidney, surrounding tissue, some lymph nodes and part of her adrenal gland on October 1st, 2018. Molly was diagnosed with a Wilms Tumor. A Wilms tumor is a type of cancer that starts in the kidneys. Molly’s cancer has been diagnosed as Stage IV, as it has already moved into the lungs.
Molly’s treatment plan thus far consists of 25 weeks of chemotherapy followed by 8 sessions of radiation. Molly started Chemotherapy on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 with her parents by her side.
Molly and the entire Thompson family have a long road ahead, physically, emotionally and financially. They could use all the prayers and support they can get at this time. Anything helps. Please help us help Molly and the Thompson’s kick Cancer. #MIGHTYMOLLY
