Hey everyone! My name is Kevin Williams and I just completed my last chemotherapy treatment for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma almost 6 weeks ago (Last treatment was 07/13/18). I was on a treatment called ABVD for 2 months, and luckily I responded very well so was able to cut that down to AVD, which I was on for 4 months. My chemotherapy treatment lasted 6 months total, but I am now in full remission! During my treatment I realized how difficult some treatments are for children. Many are given a finite time to live. I am 30 years old, I've had plenty of time to experience life. I couldn't imagine being a child diagnosed with a cancer that may not be curable; being a parent is probably even more difficult!
I would like to do everything I can to help these amazing kids experience what kids should experience. Imagine visiting the doctor and being told that instead of spending the summer hanging with your friends you are going to fight for your life, it will be painful, and there is a good chance you won't make it. Lets see if we can end that.
I am choosing to ride my bike 1,000 miles this September. Not because it's just a large round number. It's more because it is a number that I don't think I can personally achieve. It is going to be a massive goal for me and I will need everyone's support to achieve it. Before I was diagnosed with cancer (in January of this year), I was probably the weakest I have ever been. I made myself an e-bike so I could ride 2 miles to the train and back for my work commute! Riding 1,000 miles in 1 month will be a huge accomplishment for me.
I don't just want to ride 1,000 miles. I want to raise $100,000. Why? Because I don't think I could possibly ever raise that much money but I am going to give everything I've got to try.
I am asking that you pledge 1 cent per mile. ONE PENNY! That's it! If I am able to reach my 1,000 mile goal, that's only $10! If I can get 10,000 people to support me at $.01 per mile, we will be able to raise $100,000. Lets see if we can make it happen! Please!!! I know we can!
