When
As many of you know, I’ve held a lemonade stand with the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and have raised money for childhood cancer research for 13 years now. After hosting a stand every year since Pre-K, I’ve decided to take a different approach now that I’m in college.
In September, childhood cancer awareness month, ALSF launches their “Million Mile” challenge. Participants across the nation will turn awareness into action by collectively running, walking and/or cycling a million miles to raise funds for childhood cancer research. The Million Mile is the largest Childhood Cancer Awareness Month challenge that funds researchers so they can find better treatments and more cures for kids battling cancer.
ALSF’s goal is to collectively log one million miles and raise over one million dollars this September. This year I’ve started my own team at Texas A&M to help!
Every day, there are almost 700 new cases of childhood cancer around the world. This adds up to an estimated 250,000 new cases of cancer affect children under the age of 20 each year worldwide. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded with less than 4% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research.
Today, the money you donate has the potential to make a huge difference in the lives of kids with cancer (and their families). Your donation will go to research into better and safer treatments and more cures. Donations can be made as a one time donation or you can pledge per mile I run/bike! (ex. Donate $5 per mile or $0.50 per mile) Thank you all for your continuing support throughout the years!
