Charlie's Caps is my charity which came about after my Father, Charlie lost his battle with cancer in 2006. I began knitting and crocheting caps in loving memory of my Dad, Charlie, and bringing them to local hospice homes, ICU units, and Chemo Centers. I started knitting and donating one cap at a time, just like ALex's Lemonade stand is fighting childhood cancer, one cup of lemonade at a time. A dear friend's 2 year old son is presently at St. Jude's fighting his cancer. Following his CaringBridge blog, Charlie's Caps became involved with more and more kids with cancer, one named Kennedy, who had a link to Alex's lemonade stand and had been a fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stands for several years. She is now in remission and planning on being a cancer doctor. Her inspiring story led me to join ALS, so that I could raise money to fight childhood cancer. Charlie's Caps doe not raise money, but donates cancer caps to patients of all ages. One St. Jude's hat wearer called his Charlie's Cap a "Hug for his Head." Charlie's caps "peared" with Alex's Lemonade stands can warm and hug heads and raise money to fight childhood cancer, "one head and one cup at a time!"
