Elliot & Nora are raising money to help Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation fund research to find better treatments and CURES for children with cancer! Elliot has been begging to have a lemonade stand for months, and now it's on! With way too much cancer in both of our families, Ron & I hate cancer maybe more than most, yet we've never uttered the word to Elliot or Nora - even during the scariest times for our closest family members. This morning we talked about cancer (high level, people!) and were surprised to learn that it wasn't a new word for Elliot. We talked about it being a disease that impacts lots of people - even kids! Then we talked about Awesome Abigail, the 4-year-old daughter of a friend and former Blackbaud colleague, Meg McKinley Tucker. Abby was born prematurely and rocks an extra chromosome, so she's generally a smaller (and cuter!) kid than most her age. Then, last year she was diagnosed with leukemia, and she's been soldiering her way through a 20-month treatment plan including intense chemotherapy, surgeries, and other procedures you'd never want your child or any other human to face. And she smiles so much! After our family talk about cancer impacting kids, including Abby, Elliot wanted to have our stand in honor of Miss Abby Tucker. YEAH! Then Elliot said she wanted her fundraising goal to be $2,000! You can join us by attending our event or making a donation on this page. Our goals, other than raising $2K for childhood cancer research, are 1) to make Abby smile! 2) to learn gratitude and 3) to practice generosity through giving back! Thank you SO MUCH for your support!
