When
Every day, there are almost 700 new cases of childhood cancer around the world. This adds up to an estimated 250,000 new cases of cancer affect children under the age of 20 each year worldwide. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded with less than 4% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers each year.
Dylan Spriggs was one of these kids diagnosed every day. He was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma or DIPG December 30, 2015, at only 5 years old. In over 50 years there has been no cure for DIPG and the only treatment is radiation and trials to help decrease the symptoms. Dylan fought his battle bravely but lost it after being diagnosed for only 7 months on July 25, 2016. Most children diagnosed with this rare form of brain cancer live on average 9 months after their diagnosis. When Dylan got his wings he was getting ready to start a trial drug but did not have the chance. With your help walking, running, cycling, or donating this September to my team or Alex's Lemonade Stand you can help kids like Dylan as well as kids with other cancers.
Today, the money you donate has the potential to make a huge difference in the lives of kids with cancer (and their families). Your donation will go to research into better and safer treatments and more cures. Please don’t make these kids wait longer than they have to and give today!
