Helping to find a cure for childhood cancer on mile at a time.
ALSF emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of Alexandra “Alex” Scott. In 2000, at the age of four, Alex voiced a simple wish – she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all childhood cancers. The lemonade stand was a huge success, inspiring Alex to make it an annual event. Though cancer ultimately took Alex’s life in August of 2004, she had raised over $1 million to fight childhood cancer in her eight years of life. Alex’s legacy of hope for a cure continues through ALSF, a registered 501(c)3 public charity. With the help of thousands of volunteers across the country, donors who give and generous sponsors, ALSF has raised over $25 million for childhood cancer research, funding over 100 research projects nationally.
All of us know someone whose life has been turned upside down with a cancer diagnosis. As Alex would say ' If life gives you Lemons, make Lemonade' We can all do our part help the littlest of cancer heroes. I'm participating in the first annual Lemon Run 5K race in Ridley Creek Park on October 25 and I hope you can help support this worthy event and organization.
I'm looking forward to crossing the finish line on October 25th, but the real winners will be the children battling cancer.
