As many of you know, back in February my cousin Mandi son Christopher was diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia). At the very young age of just under a year and a half, his little body an endured more than anyone should- 2 brain surgeries, 4 rounds of chemo and radiation, countless blood and platelet infusions and ultimately a Bone Marrow Transplant. Like I said, he has been through more in the past 7 months than any CHILD should go through, and most days goes through it with a smile on his face. Last week I was there when Mandi had to give Chris all of his medications- and I’ll be honest, as an adult I wouldn’t want to take even half of what he sat there having to take, and again without hesitation. The reality that Mandi and Mark now live in with medications, clinic visits, many precautions, etc is something else.
