About Betsy Bickert-Poon
Betsy Bickert Poon has finished her long battle stomach cancer on Monday, November 18, 2019. Betsy was an incredible, devoted & loving mother, sister, daughter, wife and a friend. Betsy's intelligence, kindness, humility and stoicism touched the lives of everyone with whom she came in contact. She is survived by her sister Bea, mother Barbara, husband Phil and sons Colin and Nathan. Betsy received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Purdue University in 1994 and went on to complete Pharmacy Practice and Pediatric Residencies at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Betsy served as a Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplant Pharmacist for 12 years at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia before moving to Orlando and serving in multiple capacities at the Florida Hospital for Children. She was extremely active in publications and research and was honored by becoming a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy in 2010. Betsy was an incredible inspiration for several generations of pharmacists and a powerful force pushing the field of Pediatric Pharmacy forward. She had a profound impact on the Pediatric Oncology community and COG Pharmacy Discipline. Betsy was very active in POG and later COG since its formation. She has served as COG Pharmacy Discipline Chair for almost a decade.
