I'm holding a fundraiser to help Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation move one step closer to finding a cure for all children with cancer. I’ll be dedicating my Ironman Triathlon season to kids with cancer by turning my stats into life-saving research dollars.  These dollars will also help support families while their children receive care.  In a COVID-19 world, many families are facing health emergencies at the same time they are experiencing a financial crisis.

Please make a donation of any amount toward my fundraising goal. The money you donate will pay for research to find better treatments and cures for childhood cancer. You can help kids and their families by providing desperately needed hope and financial support.

This year I will be racing in five half-Ironman races and one full Ironman for a total of 492.1 miles.  The ultimate goal is to raise $50,000 for childhood cancer research.  You can make a donation of any dollar amount or you can pledge to donate any amount per mile.  If you want to track any of my races, you can track me on the Ironman Tracker App. Due to COVID-19 the race schedule has changed.  I will race the equivalent of a half-Ironman the weekend of May 30th-31st and June 13th-14th.  I will do these solo as the early part of the season has been cancelled or postponed.  Running these races solo will bring on added challenges, but not compared to what the families we are trying to support face.  The remaining scheduled races are listed below.

When You Donate:

• $25 can provide a gas card so a family can drive a child to treatment.
• $50 will fund one hour of research.
• $100 provides a night of lodging for a family who is traveling far from home for treatment.
• $400 will fund one day of research.
• $1,000 will purchase a round trip ticket for a parent and child to travel to a treatment that is only available in a particular part of the country.
• $2,000 will fund one week of research.

Statistics:

• Every year, an estimated 300,000+ new cases of cancer affect children worldwide. That’s over 800 new kids affected every day.
• The NIH designates less than 4% of its budget to pediatric cancer research.  That less than 4% then has to be divided among the dozens of types and subtypes of pediatric cancer. It is up to all of us to fund research and find cures, so that someday these children are cured.
• Since 2005, ALSF has raised over $175 million that has funded nearly 1,000 pediatric cancer research projects at 135 institutions across the United States and Canada.
• ALSF’s Travel for Care program helps families get to and from lifesaving treatments by giving out gas cards and assisting with flights and hotel stays. This makes treatments accessible to families who otherwise couldn’t get there.
