During my career as a cancer research scientist, I studied many different types of tumors (breast, colon, lung, pancreatic, melanoma, etc) with the goal of finding new therapies to improve patient outcomes. But the years I spent working on pediatric cancer were the most meaningful and most frustrating. Childhood cancer can be hard to treat, and can have life-long impacts. We, as a society, desperately need more work and resources to accelerate the development of therapies for kids with cancer.
