Abridged version:
I pledged to run 150 miles in September to support kids who have cancer and their families, in honor of our dear friends' tiny but mighty, cancer survivor daughter, Hadley Ludwig!!! Please donate (and make sure it's for ME and not my team or my mom, Sue :-).
Full Version:
Krista, DJ, and I have been friends since our MU days, over 15 years ago. We worked together, they lived together with our friends in 122U, and Krista was even with us on our first date :-). On October 29th, her then 22-month-old daughter, Hadley, was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which was removed the next day. Hadley had an aggressive form of brain cancer, grade III anaplastic ependymoma. She completed 33 radiation treatments. Hadley was then joyfully declared cancer-free!!! However, Hadley has had several health scares since, and her family lives in daily fear that her cancer may return.
This September, I am running in honor of tiny but mighty Hadley, who is one month older than my daughter Lauren. This year the Million Mile is personal; through my dear friends' devastating experiences, I have learned more about the distress, anxiety, fear, heartbreak, and exhaustion these families endure. When my own body is exhausted during my runs, I think of tiny little Hadley and all she has had to overcome. Please help me meet my goal of raising $2,000 to support more families like the Ludwigs during their time of need. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
