I heard about Alex's story on the Early Show and I remembered seeing her on Oprah when I was younger, she was such a strong little girl and fought so hard. It seemed fitting to help with this cause and it was a lot of fun! I held my first stand on July 5, 2008 at Willards Elementary School in Willards, MD. I chose to hold a stand on this day because our local Chamber of Commerce was having a fireworks display for Independence Day. The event itself was a huge success and the number of people who attended and visited our stand was beyond belief. We had long lines and stayed very busy. It was awesome. Some people just came to donate money to Alex's Lemonade Stand. We plan to hold another stand this coming summer and I can't wait to see the turn out! It takes a lot of planning and hard work, but it is worth it. I hope that this year we can raise even more money for Alex's Lemonade Stand. Not only do I want to raise money for Alex's Lemonade Stand, I also hope to raise awareness of pediatric cancer in my community.
