At Mahogany Brown Bridal, we believe fashion has the power to inspire. That’s why we’ve created a luxury high-end bridal boutique that specializes in retailing African American and Minority luxury bridal gown designers.
Our Goal is to provide an exceptional shopping experience, while introducing and bringing awareness to minority designers in the bridal market by providing a relaxing, friendly and stress-free experience to all our brides. Appointments will be set which enables Mahogany Brown personnel to focus on the bride and provide exceptional tailored service for her.
Mahogany Brown Bridal is a boutique that is much needed in today's society. Being able to carry minority designers and circulate the US Dollar within the community is important.
Whitney Stephenson, Owner of Mahogany Brown Bridal and Designer of Lee Jerome was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH attend The Tennessee State University, where she majored in Architectural Engineering with a minor in Business Administration. Going into her junior year of college Whitney decided to join the United State Navy to help pay for school. As a sailor, her rate of Aviation Boatswain's Mate Equipment (ABE) took her to San Diego, CA onboard the USS Ronald Reagan CVN-76 then cross-rated to Aviation Maintenance Administrationman (AZ). After four years of service Whitney continued her service to her country in the US Navy Reserves for another eight years.
Whitney started designing clothing for her son born in 2015 with a rare genetic condition Beckwith Wiedemann-Syndrome (BWS) which is an overgrowth syndrome that affects 1:11,000 newborns/infants. Children with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome are at an increased risk of developing several types of cancerous and noncancerous tumors, particularly a form of kidney cancer called Wilms tumor and a form of liver cancer called hepatoblastoma. Tumors develop in about 5-10 percent of children with BWS. To find out more about BWS please visit https://www.beckwithwiedemann.org/
Due to medical conditions when born Whitney’s son remained in the hospital for the first year of his life. While in the hospital he had multiple wires and tubes that were attached to him. So, Whitney started altering clothing items to fit the wires and tubes for him. After experiencing first-hand the emotional and physical hardships of giving birth to a son diagnosed with BWS, Whitney wanted to create something that gave hope to those struggling to manage the symptoms associated with the condition and all other conditions.
Through our dedication to all the small fighters in our lives and our passion for giving back to the community, we remain committed to achieving our vision of encouraging confidence among children while raising awareness about rare disorders. Mahogany Brown Bridal has teamed up with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome Fund to host our 1st Annual Bridal Extravaganza on Sunday, November 13th, 2022 at the Heritage House (Mooresville, NC).
We would love to make this an annual event to raise awareness for rare diseases and disorders such as Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome. Mahogany Brown Bridal will donate a portion of all sponsorships to the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome Fund.
The BWS Fund is committed to fund research into Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome (BWS) and related disorders. This research includes developing and studying a patient registry and repository, developing and studying mouse and human cell-based models of BWS, and understanding the genetic and epigenetic changes that lead to BWS and related disorders.
All donations to the Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome Fund are restricted to research and advances in BWS and related disorders. Dr. Jenn Kalish, a leading researcher in the BWS community will lead the Scientific Advisory Committee for the fund, helping to set priorities and strategies for funding the most impactful BWS research.
Our goal is a donation of $1000, and we were hoping that you could help us reach that goal.
