Our sweet friend Lila Meloy (Age 3) was recently diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. Initially thought to be AUL, pathologists reclassified Lila’s disease as “acute erythroid leukemia,” which is even more rare than AUL in pediatrics. Little is known about how to treat AEL (because of its rarity and lack of data). While she is being treated with the best care at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, doctors at Dana Farber, St Jude’s, MD Anderson, and many of the country’s best cancer institutions have also heard about Lila and are reviewing/consulting on her case. Given the rarity of her diagnosis, Jiya is raising funds for leukemia research to help find a cure for her friend Lila and other children who may be facing rare leukemia diagnoses.
Lila is a fighter and an incredibly strong soul, and we are honored to support her and her family on this difficult journey. The google doc linked here has been created and updated regularly to provide an overview of Lila’s medical protocol thus far, and we appreciate those of you with healthcare connectivity sharing it widely, as any insight could help Lila tremendously.
Additionally, if you’d like to support our close friends Claire and Liam in other ways beyond this fundraiser, please reach out to us directly.
With love and gratitude - Jiya, Kosha, & Adam
