Miles for Kees, take 2!

October 2, 2015

Returning for their second year as an Alex’s Million Mile team, Miles for Kees is honoring young childhood cancer hero Addyson Cordes and going the distance in memory of sweet Kees Poole.

Team captain Astrid Poole writes, “Our sweet, beautiful, amazing son Kees was diagnosed with an aggressive pediatric cancer at seven months old, but so little is known about his particular cancer (ATRT) that we quickly ran out of treatment options, and he passed away at fourteen months old. He smiled a lot and brought a lot of smiles to those he encountered. We have another son now, Evan, and miss Kees everyday, but we cherish everyday together as a family!”

This team has raised an impressive $2,300 and gone more than 1,807 miles in memory of Kees. They are participating in the hope that other families will have better treatment options and cures when a child they love is faced with an ATRT (atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumors) diagnosis.
