Thank you for your support of The 2012 Lemon Ball!

The 2012 Lemon Ball was an unforgettable evening! On January 14, more than 800 people supporting the Foundation and vision of Alex Scott, came together to raise over $700,000 for childhood cancer research.

Following a successful silent auction consisting of more than 200 items, the evening’s official program began with award presentations honoring the 2012 Alex Scott Crystal Cup awardee, Harry Rose; Volunteers of the Year, Natalie and Albert Gigliotti; and Stand Hosts of the Year, Riley Miller and Family who received a standing ovation in honor of their efforts. The heartfelt presentations to these individuals dedicated to Alex’s vision proved a perfect way to kick-off the inspirational evening.

Performances by the Dance with M.E. dance troupe and the Keystone State Boychoir, featuring two cancer survivor soloists, provided entertainment prior to and throughout a delicious dinner that was capped off with the emotional story of Danny Hammond, one of our childhood cancer heroes that has been fighting the disease with determination and grace for 10 years.

Guest auctioneer CK Swett led an excitable live auction consisting of amazing items ranging from an 11-month lease of an original painting by Alex Scott to behind the bench tickets to the Duke vs. UNC basketball game complete with transportation by private jet. The Cake Boss, Buddy Valastro, surprised everyone with a special video message during bidding for Liz Scott’s famous lemon cookies, announcing that he was adding a plate of his own cookies, a one-of-a-kind lemonade stand cake and behind the scenes tour and line cut to Carlo's Bakery new factory in Lackawanna Center, NJ to the auction item.

Cocktails, dessert and dancing to the sounds of Brandywine Valley Talent’s Strangers rounded out the gala and allowed everyone some time to let loose, knowing that their presence was contributing to a cure for childhood cancer.

A special thank you to our 2012 Gala Co-Chairs Melanie and Billy King, our presenting sponsors Toys”R”Us and Volvo, and all of our sponsors, board members, volunteers and staff. We hope to see everyone next year at The 2013 Lemon Ball!
